Sid Was Here Short Term Rentals receives a mixed guest experience, with primarily positive feedback focused on Julie’s expertise in real estate and property management, and location. However, recent reviews highlight concerning issues related to property upkeep and responsive customer service, indicating significant inconsistency in the overall quality of service.
We hired Julie for long-term property management, and our experience was unethical and deeply concerning. Our negative experience aligns closely with the few negative reviews posted by other long-term renters and owners and I wish I had spent more time looking through them. Her focus seems to be on collecting fees, fees and more fees, rather than providing a comprehensive service. By the 4th month of her management, we had a chilling feeling of being exploited. By this point we had found a tenant ourselves and had done all of her legwork by ourselves from overseas. There was very little tangible evidence that she was actively marketing the property. If she did the work, there was a serious lack of transparency. The bills we received from contractors she hired on our behalf were far higher than what we’d ever pay as homeowners. When addressing smaller issues, she had zero accountability and when requesting an itemized bill before terminating our contract, it was like pulling teeth — she wanted us to sign the termination agreement before disclosing the full termination fee. At this point, we are being scammed!! Their positive google reviews here are clearly from short-term Airbnb guests and do not reflect the reality of their long-term property management service. As homeowners, our experience was disastrous and financially damaging.
We stayed at the Captain's House in Savannah and it did not disappoint! We Had the whole property to ourselves and the roof deck was great. Walkable to everything and so so CLEAN!! I can't wait to come stay again!
Julie, Chandler and team took great care to make our business retreat a huge success! We were amazed we found a home in the heart of Savannah with 11 bedrooms where we could all stay together. The Captains House was beyond our expectations! The space allowed for all of us to gather and still have our privacy. It was like a private boutique hotel. Our meetings were productive. We walked everywhere. And we LOVED the rooftop deck each night. I have shared the memories we created at this business retreat with many friends. We also loved the Segway tour of the historic city.
My experience was with Julie from Sid Was Here Property Management. I booked a VRBO for 35 days while my husband and I were between the sale of our home and the purchase of another. I chose this rental because it was pet-friendly and would allow us to have our three older cats with us. Julie collected an additional $300 nonrefundable fee ($100 per cat) upon booking. Looking back, I realize that wasn't fair, as no additional cost or work was involved. As a matter of fact, I left the place cleaner than it was upon my arrival. Approximately 10 days in, I sent an email to Julie, who, in her previous communication, had instructed me to contact her anytime if we had any problems or questions. I informed her that we had a non-functional shower faucet in one of the two bathrooms and that the dishwasher was not securely attached to the cabinetry, causing it to tip over when the door was opened. I shared pictures of a filthy air fryer, dirty windows, and baseboards, and told her about a dirty sock, a hair clip, and a hand flosser I found under the furniture. I told her that the paint was chipping off in the one tub we were able to use. I told her I had paid for and replaced the battery for the electric fireplace because it wouldn't work. I was not asking her for a discount or a refund. I wasn't even asking her to fix the problems while we were there, but she never responded. She did not acknowledge my email or the review I left with VRBO. The house is no longer listed as far as I can tell, so my review won't be seen there. Based on my experience, there is considerable room for improvement for this business. ??
I called Sid Was Here looking for advice on Airbnb investment properties, and I’m so glad I got connected with Julie, the owner. From the moment we spoke, it was clear she has deep expertise in real estate, investing, and property management. She generously shared insights that most people would charge for—and gave me a whole new perspective on short-term rentals in Georgia. Julie didn't just answer my questions—she educated me. Her experience in the market, combined with her passion for helping others succeed, makes her a rare find in this industry. If you’re thinking about investing in Airbnb properties or need a sharp, dependable property manager, stop your search and call Julie. This is the kind of expert you want on your side!
My husband, 3 year old daughter, and I stayed in the Savannah City View Unit. It was everything and more! The unit was updated and had all modern appliances but they were still able to keep that historic charm with the exposed brick and original features. My husband and daughter absolutely loved the movie theater room with the reclining massage chairs! I loved that we were able to walk to everything, if you’ve ever been to downtown Savannah you know how hard it is to find parking. We left our car in the parking garage all weekend and it was so convient! We will definitely be back soon!
Julie was simply outstanding as our agent! She navigated our complex VA assumable loan—locking in a rate less than half the market average—all while keeping us under budget and in our desired school district. Despite pre-planned trips, her communication never wavered, and she identified a property and negotiated an amazing deal in record time. She was even able to work out a temporary occupancy agreement to get us in the house before closing since we had short notice of our move. We couldn’t have asked for a more dedicated, knowledgeable, and accommodating agent. Highly recommend!
Julie and her team have been nothing short of amazing. They were given an impossible task on an even more impossible deadline and made it happen like it was an everyday thing. When roadblocks popped up, they always had an answer. Attention to detail, check. Communication - supurb. Kindness - you bet. As an investor, you couldn't find someone with more knowledge and skill to help you meet your goals. I'm very lucky to have been paired with Julie and her team and hope that this is the start of a long investing journey together. Thank y'all!!
Absolutely incredible experience. We are seasoned investors and were blown away by the knowledgable team. This is a one stop shop from buying cash flowing properties, setting up and property management. Finding a company that is knowledgable and skilled at all three facets is a rare find. Julie went above and beyond and can not recommend enough.
Worst management company in the Savannah area. Julie will get you in the door initially and her very well spoken conversations with make you feel at ease. After onboarding, don’t expect to ever hear from her again. She didn’t even give me a contact to address if there were any issues. Just the office number. This office is not local… it is a virtual assistant. The communication with guests is also very poor. They said the pool was available when it was not. This resulted in a less than stellar review. The cleaning has been terrible! Also resulting in poor reviews. Even months later after I had tried to address it before it is terrible. Do yourself a favor and seek elsewhere for good management. This is not it.
