Located on the Savannah river, Thompson Savannah is celebrated for its stunning rooftop bar, sophisticated rooms, and exceptional customer service, including complimentary house car transport throughout the city. While guests rave about the modern decor and convenient location for walking to attractions, there are mixed reports regarding cleanliness and some outdated bathroom amenities.
We loved staying at The Thompson Savannah! The hotel is pretty, very clean and the staff is wonderful! It’s a bit off the main street with all the shops and restaurants, but very easy to get to places. They even have a complimentary driver that can drive you to and from places within a 3 mile radius. The front desk staff was wonderful, going over and above to check you in, and recommend lovely places close by to visit. A+!
I booked this hotel on Chase Travel. I received a letter with the benefits at check in, got everything except an upgrade. The corner room was beautiful. Watching cargo ships from our bed was so peaceful. The rooftop restaurant/bar offered a great view too. Service can be a little slow but everything was tasty and our food credits were applied successfully. We walked to the city center everyday and also got to use the house Tesla a couple times (call ahead to book it). Overall it was a very memorable stay and I would highly recommend.
Had a great experience at the Thompson hotel. My husband & I visited this location for Valentines Day & enjoyed every minute. The aesthetics were nice, it’s very clean. It’s a short walk to the heart of the Savannah Downtown eateries & bars. They also offer transportation accommodations. Would definitely return.
Beautiful hotel with very high end, modern classy decor. The rooftop bar is unreal offering a beautiful sunset. Don't sleep on the mezze platter with oven bread! The happy hour at the bar on floor one is wonderful. Shower pressure is fabulous. Very functional design in the rooms. The pillows were not my favorite and I had a hard time getting to sleep the first night until I stacked them just right (lol). Hospitable staff and nice location if you don't mind walking 20 minutes to the active Savannah scene. I definitely would come back and loved the stay!
Great service and beautiful rooms. The bathroom is really nice and the rooftop bar was awesome. There was a professional piano player in the lobby an another bar. Beds were a bit firm and for some reason we didn't have a fitted sheet on the bed. All in all it was a fantastic stay and we would come again. We used the car to grab a ride home from dinner and it was a nice 6 seater Tesla.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this modern and clean hotel. The amenities are excellent, the service is top-tier, and the riverside location offered us a fantastic view from our room. It is easily walkable to nearby attractions, but they also offer a free house car service that will take you anywhere within a three-mile radius. It is incredibly convenient; you just need to reserve it and provide a tip. If you plan to eat at the on-site restaurants, I highly recommend making a reservation, particularly for brunch. Regarding the valet, while the app-based request system is efficient, I suggest carrying cash for tips. The app charges a 3% credit card fee plus a $1 convenience fee on top of the tip, which rubs me the wrong way considering the nightly valet fee is already $53.
Stayed at the hotel as part of the fine Hotel and resorts program. Thought it was a really nice location! Went in the winter time so it was a little bit too chilly for us to go in the pool, but the pool looked like a lot of fun. Nice quiet location - a little bit off of the main Savannah area, but easy walking distance to the Riverwalk and everything in Savannah. Definitely take advantage of the Towne car if it’s available to easily get around the city!
I have been traveling for the past 2 years for work and the Thompson Hotel - Savannah has been my home away from home. Everyone at the hotel made me feel comfortable, safe and taken care of. The doormen, the hotel car drivers, receptionists, bartenders and staff have all been excellent. I especially want to give a shout out to Shelbey and Sidney at Bar Julian for always remembering what I liked for breakfast and getting me in and out depending on my schedule. Their kindness and hospitality was always on display regardless of the circumstances. I also appreciated that Alan the house car driver always welcomed me back and was ready to take me where I wanted to go. My territory has changed, so I won’t be traveling much anymore, but I will miss my time at the Thompson and all of those who made it feel like home for me. Thank you all! Take care.
This was a beautiful hotel. Very sexy. However the amount of dogs were over the top. I enjoy pets and have had pets through out my life. The fact that pets are allowed in every room is too much. They should have designated floors and or rooms for pets. Every pet owner is not responsible. This tells me the dogs are in the beds and on the furniture. I saw in the lobby area dogs on the furniture and in the food/beverage area and these were NOT service animals. What about your guest who has allergies. This hotel I feel has put animals over there human patrons. I really love this hotel, the atmosphere and all it offers. However they have taken pet friendly a little too far. This easily could have been a 5 star
Thanks a lot for the assistance of Amanda, we have a very scenic room here! Really appreciate that! Every staff here is very nice and welcoming, too. Still, I have to say that although everything here looks pretty good at a glance, this property seems to lack some details during the stay, making it not that worth the price. For example, the designated check-in time was 4pm, but the room wasn’t ready until 4:16pm. No coffee capsules were provided in the room. And the staff seems not to communicate well with the housekeeping. The housekeeper knocked the door at 11am, while we have already requested a late check out at 2pm. Some room designs are not properly functional, and may even cause injuries. The most noticeable one was the bathroom door. The knob from inside may pinch the fingers as it will ultimately go behind the wall. Also, this place is of some distance from the main urban area, so no much restaurants or convenience stores around here. That makes the experience a little bit bland, too.
