Sleep Inn Mainstay Suites Savannah Midtown consistently receives negative reviews citing cleanliness issues, malfunctioning amenities, and poor service. Frequent complaints revolve around mold, pests, and a generally rundown appearance despite a reasonable price point. Recent reviews highlight safety concerns and staffing problems.
Just a quick stop to sleep and shower, and we'll not be back. Strong marijuana smells, and in need of deep cleaning and general maintenance. Was looking forward to breakfast and they were out of waffle mix by 930am (breakfast ends at 1030am) and no desire to make any more, so we left!
The photos of this hotel are extremely misleading. I honestly do not understand how this place has a 3.2-star rating. The hallway and the room smelled terrible, the furniture was broken and worn down, and when we checked the microwave, there was leftover food inside. We did not even stay the night we left immediately because the conditions were unacceptable.
If I can give this Hotel a negative star, I would. They should of never fired the Maintenance guy Louis, regardless of what the other staff called him. That Maintenance guy came in on his days off, worked late off the clock and went out his way to help us and other guests. He even loaned us his big coffee maker since the one in our room wasnt working. He went to find us a microwave as well. This hotel has gone down in the last month. Water leaking from ceiling in hallway, mold and mildew in rooms and the smell of mold and mildew is a health problem. They need to close this Hotel or get Louis and the guy that was working with him back here and fix this mess. I won't be coming back and I will be reaching out to The Health Department about the mold before someone dies from it.
I have had nothing but good experiences at the mainstay. The rooms are nice and clean and spacious for a reasonably priced, the amenities are great and the staff members are polite and helpful especially ms. Raven at the front desk. She is so sweet and really emits such a great energy! Her smile is contagious!
Stayed here this past Labor Day weekend for a quick staycation. I can tell the doors are stuck like they've been painted over. Had a friend come over and when he got to the room, he told me he asked the front desk how to get to my room. Instead the guy at the front desk almost told him my information-name included. Definitely a breach of security! The walls are thin, so I could hear the people having sex LOUDLY next door. The pipes are cheap as they made a screeching sound when turning the water on and I can hear others running the shower. Left the room to meet my sister in the parking lot and my room key stopped working so I had to drive around to the front to get another key.
I had a situation where I had to get away. I read the reviews and was very hesitant. So I called, and Mrs. Raven put my mind at ease so I proceeded to make my way to the hotel in hopes of an early check in. When I arrived there were a few people ahead of me. Mrs. Raven handled the busy situation professionally with speed and diligence. Very impressive. Even more impressive was she put me in a freshly cleaned room by 1pm. The hotel is older and not 100%, but I paid $160 for two nights and you can't beat that for a clean room and bathroom, with crisp clean sheets, a very comfortable bed, pretty nice courtyard pool area with a cute little gazebo sitting area, and fantastic front desk service. I didn't get to partake in the breakfast but it looked good and was included in the cost! Loved also that late night I wanted a snack and they have a bunch of drinks and salty and sweet snacks for sale in lobby. I also felt safe at all times during my three night stay. I thoroughly enjoyed this hotel and with Mrs Raven's lovely service, the clean room, and the cost I give it 5 stars!
The worst hotel I’ve ever stayed at. First of all, the photos are completely misleading — whoever edited those deserves an Oscar. From the very first night, there were police cars outside, and the area doesn’t feel safe at all. There are people around who seem to be involved in shady things, and it just doesn’t feel secure. I was afraid someone could break into my room and steal my stuff — the outdoor doors aren’t secure and people use objects to keep them propped open. The bathroom curtains had mold, everything was dirty, the floors were filthy, and the toaster was rusty and gross. The air conditioner made so much noise I couldn’t even sleep. The whole hotel smells like cigarettes and humidity . Definitely not a place I’d recommend or ever come back
This was one of the worst hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The room was not properly cleaned — the balcony was filthy, and there were insects and spiders inside the room. The bathtub was clogged and took nearly 45 minutes to drain. We complained three times over two days, and the receptionist (an Indian man) casually responded, “Yeah, we had so many complaints this morning,” without offering any solution or apology. To make matters worse, if you need a towel, you have to go all the way to the reception to get it. The pool area is overrun with crabgrass, which ruins the view from the balcony. Save your money — the Hilton nearby is similarly priced, and at least the staff there actually care about their guests.
I called for 4 days straight before my arrival to see if I could check in early (to no avail)! I should have known then what experience I would have. The front desk worker was so non enthusiastic and soft spoken. He was not rude at all but not the energy you want to be greeted with. 1. My fridge was disgusting!!! 2. My sink had food in it and was not clean 3. the hot water did not work 4. The stove did not work The cleaners were so lack luster. They moved slow, looked tired and irritated. After I pointed out the issues, I was told the cleaning staff would be on the way. 15 mins later, I requested a refund because the workers were taking their precious time to come RECLEAN??? the room i paid for a month advance! Eww and Goodbye
Booked for the holiday weekend. Immediately upon entering hotel you get a contact high. Smell dissipated in early morning, but was right back in the afternoon. TV remote barely worked. However the hotel has a nightly showing of "how to get into a hotel room and not pay!". Husband and I were sitting in car and watched two nights in a row, a woman and a man slide open a ground floor window and go inside. Neither went near the door (which thankfully you need a room key to use). Management seemed nice enough however not very concerned with safety or the noxious weed smell.
