The Best Western Savannah Historic District offers a convenient location in the heart of Savannah, placing guests within easy walking distance of major attractions. While praised for its friendly staff and accessibility, recent reviews highlight inconsistencies in cleanliness, noise levels, and issues with room amenities and service.
Room was clean, AC worked amazing, Beds were very comfy. Could use a little touch up here and there otherwise was very comfortable. Location was very convenient to River St and Franklin Square. Would stay again for sure.
Got in the room. No remote for the TV. Tried to call the office, no phone. At 0245, neighbors come drunk and argumentative. Banged on door twice. Still arguing at 0330. Had to look up the number to the front desk. No phone in the room.Security guard was 2 doors down. Didn't say a word to them til I said something to him. At 0445 its quiet. Im up at 530, I wonder, how loud it's going to be for them
The ladies at the front desk were very polite, gentle, and welcoming. They were friendly, helpful, and made check-in easy. The rooms were average and generally comfortable, but they could use better cleaning and some maintenance. A few areas needed touch-ups, and some items showed rust and wear. With a bit more attention to cleanliness and upkeep, the rooms would be much better. Overall, it was a good stay, mainly thanks to the great front desk service.
Great hotel right where you want to be in Savannah. We were just a 3 minute walk to the riverfront. Hotel was clean and the grounds were as tidy as they could be. It is on a busy pedestrian corner and let's face it more than half of humans are just lazy and throw stuff on the ground. We traveled with out 60lb pet and the room was just great. It was very roomy and clean. I wish it did not have carpet, but hey I can wish right? Breakfast was just okay - I have had much better breakfasts and other hotels. The coffee comes from a pouch in a machine. I don't know why but I could not get behind that. It did not taste on par and the creamer options were garbage. The breakfast was the same the entire time we were there. I have never had that happen, usually each day the options rotate. It was just a cooked egg round (not scrambled up) and it was that every dang day with sausage and biscuits and gravy. I think one day we did have super crispy bacon that just shredded when you picked it up. Thankfully Savannah is FULL of coffee houses with assortments of breakfast options. So if you are booking because of the full breakfast that is included just know what you are getting into. The breakfast area was really nice and the staff were great. The hotel on the whole was great - and having such an easy pet policy when you are in the most pup friendly city was a perk. I would definitely stay here again. The only thing that I did wish there was more of was green space around the hotel to potty your pets. We had to walk a few blocks to get to grass - not a huge deal but when its 11pm and you need to take them out, it can be inconvenient.
I selected this hotel due to its proximity to SCAD. It was a 12 minute walk from SCAD Museum of Art and quite a distance from the Riverwalk and City Market areas. Weather was beautiful all weekend, so we did not mind. But- the hotel itself was not very clean with visible dust and crud caked on the air vest, cobwebs on the ceiling, hair on the bathroom floor and super thin walls (hope our drunken neighbors survived what was surely a nasty hangover!). Bonus was that it was on a main street. It's afforable- but you get what you pay for.
Great location meaning close to riverside - but the noise all night racing motorcycles, sirens ? were awful. The manager at the desk needs to find a position she likes and is that she is better at. AC didn’t work in our room. And it was like an imposition to change rooms where we weren’t sweating. The owner could power wash the place and perhaps paint the insides of the doors so the peeling paint isn’t falling off. I am SHOCKED the BW flag allows this. Quite disappointed ? we will never recommend or be back. The rate showed 160. We paid over 270 with taxes and 36 parking outside in their lot. Horrible place.
Great location. Very convenient access to downtown Savannah. I attended an event at the Ships Museum which was in easy walking distance. The hotel itself was rather old but in good shape. The staff were very nice. My only complaint was there were small flying bugs in the room. Not many, but enough to be a nuisance. The price was fair for the room.
Fantastic hotel & great breakfast. It’s centrally located and can walk to pretty much anywhere in the city. There was a noise machine in the room that was great! Rooms spotless and breakfast in the morning SO good! It feels like family when you stay here!
We were here from Tuesday thru Saturday with a reservation for 4 people. My card was not supposed to be charged till we arrived for check-in at 4pm on Tue. they charged my card at 8am on Tue. Only 2 towels in the room so had to ask for 2 more. Had to ask 3 different days if room service would be coming to the room. They never did! Had to go to the front desk everyday to get towels since room service never came but was told they would be coming, never apologized for their failure. On Friday when we asked for clean towels since room service didn't show up again they didn't have any. The only good thing about the place is the location. Extremely disappointed, stay anywhere but here there are plenty of other options in the area.
Rooms were clean and the staff was super nice, the breakfasts were great. Was noisy, b ut you are staying in a busy downtown near the port, so what did you expect. Excellent location to everything the historic district has to offer.
