The JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District offers a unique and stylish experience in the heart of Savannah’s historic district. Guests consistently praise the hotel’s stunning architecture, impressive lobby museum filled with fossils and gems, and convenient location near River Street attractions. However, some reviews highlight inconsistent service, occasional noise issues, and staffing challenges.
I would give more than 5 stars if I could! This place is amazing in every way. Beyond the obvious beauty, artwork, and unique charm, this resort exceeded all of our expectations. The location is unbeatable, and having access to the private car made our stay even more exceptional. Every employee we encountered greeted us warmly and genuinely seemed happy to be there, which made the experience even more special. I can't say enough good things about this resort, we can't wait to go back! Thank you for making our wedding anniversary truly unforgettable.
If this review is helpful, please make sure you leave it a like ??????. Okay, there is a very mixed review for this hotel coming your way. This, by far, it's one of the most interesting looking hotels that I've stayed at. The fact that it is an old converted power station makes it very interesting. It's situated in a great part of town with lots to walk to and do right next to the water. There's a very interesting art gallery and the lobby of the hotel is by far one of the most eclectic lobbies I have ever seen. So with all of these great things, you may be asking, why did I only give it three stars. There were some things that were bothersome at this hotel. One of the major things is in an area with so many beautiful things to see outside the view from your room. It's actually of the inside of the hotel. My view in particular, on the second floor was inside their ballroom. When I came into the room, the curtains were closed. So I opened them to see what my view would be. I was literally staring at the floor of the ballroom, where people could look inside my room and see me. Needless to say, I kept the curtains closed completely during my entire stay at this hotel. This made the room very dark because there was no natural light. You would think that if they knew this was going to happen, they would provide a great amount of lighting in the room. But this was not the case. The lighting was dim, and I ended up having to move one of the lamps closer to the desk. Just to get some work done. The room itself is very interesting and beautiful and the amenities we're really nice. But because this is an older building, and because of the proximity to the ballroom. It gets incredibly noisy !! I will give them points because they did provide ear plugs for you. When you come in the room. But this is something that is a little troublesome, because you may not be able to hear your alarm in the morning. The bed slept well at night. But during the day there was too much noise. There was great hot water pressure in the shower and wonderful amenities. All in all, I have very mixed feelings about this hotel. I think you have to make up your own mind on this one.
Fantastic JW that feels like a resort! This is a fantastic property directly featured on River Street. I highly recommend only looking here and you won't have to worry about anything else. Great location, updated and spotless rooms, friendly staff and unbelievable Food and Beverage options too. Solo, couples or family, it doesn't matter! I would like to praise Luca and his team, Emery, Melissa, T'Juan and Cassidy. I interacted with each of them a few times pre-arrival and during the stay. They were all wonderful and helped every step along the way. Can't wait to return! We CONSTANTLY tell anyone we know to stay!
This place needs to get it together. I have stayed there multiple times over the years since they first opened. So sad to see them go downhill. Good luck getting the room you requested or thought you booked. Also....HOMELESS PEOPLE ARE EVERYWHERE. I literally felt safer in PR. You absolutely cannot walk to bars and restaurants at night and walk back with your girlfriends safely. NO WAY!!! What you pay for this hotel is not worth it. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.
This is more of a review of the art exhibit within the hotel than the Hotel itself. Definitely one of the highlights of Savannah for me. Large collection of massive rare agates and fossils within the old power plant that's been converted into a hotel. Its well laid out with similar high end businesses scattered throughout the building. There are event spaces that can be rented. You can easily spend a hour or more roaming around the exhibits.
Elevators broken, rooms need significant repairs, very noisy. Cool entry area in old historic buildings were positive. Not a normal JW more like a Holiday Inn with cool entry. Staff polite but also fighting to get elevators. Food and beverage poor at best. If you get a great deal the location is nice but not worth a JW upcharge. No lounge. Rooms very dirty. Do not recommend. Stayed in building 2 so others may be better.......
AWESOME. My kids had the best time. First class all the way. Service was exceptional. It was like the Ritz without the Ritz name. The museum inside the hotel was so freaking cool. My kids were in awe. Also, all the restaurants were fantastic. Only complaint is the loud music from the night club next door. It was hard to fall asleep that one night.
I just left from a two night stay here and I cannot say enough positive things about it! The room was so clean and spacious and I am very hard to please. All of the staff were so accommodating and kind! I was in town for my daughter‘s volleyball tournament this weekend and parking was really difficult at the convention center. After letting Joe with valet know about this, he offered to drive us over to the convention center. This kind of service is just above and beyond and really impressed me! I am a travel advisor and will definitely be recommending this hotel for all future clients!
Pros: great location and hotel is beautiful. Cons: we booked a room in the power plant section but when we checked in they gave us a room in 3 Muses next door with a city view. Our room was across the street from saddlebags bar. It was so loud! The base sound vibrated in our room until they closed at 3AM. Our hotel room had complimentary earplugs and sound machine. (I should have known when I saw them something was amiss!) the earplugs and sound machine did nothing to mask the sound. I’ve stayed in noisy cities before but this one topped the list! I would have given this hotel a 5 star rating but the fact that I had a sleepless night when the hotel clerk obviously knew there are issues hence the 2 star rating…
