The JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District offers a unique and visually stunning experience, centered around a historically-repurposed power plant with an impressive art and fossil exhibit. While many guests praise the hotel’s atmosphere, location, and staff, recurring concerns include noise levels, inconsistent service, and logistical issues like elevator problems and communication breakdowns.
This is more of a review of the art exhibit within the hotel than the Hotel itself. Definitely one of the highlights of Savannah for me. Large collection of massive rare agates and fossils within the old power plant that's been converted into a hotel. Its well laid out with similar high end businesses scattered throughout the building. There are event spaces that can be rented. You can easily spend a hour or more roaming around the exhibits.
Elevators broken, rooms need significant repairs, very noisy. Cool entry area in old historic buildings were positive. Not a normal JW more like a Holiday Inn with cool entry. Staff polite but also fighting to get elevators. Food and beverage poor at best. If you get a great deal the location is nice but not worth a JW upcharge. No lounge. Rooms very dirty. Do not recommend. Stayed in building 2 so others may be better.......
AWESOME. My kids had the best time. First class all the way. Service was exceptional. It was like the Ritz without the Ritz name. The museum inside the hotel was so freaking cool. My kids were in awe. Also, all the restaurants were fantastic. Only complaint is the loud music from the night club next door. It was hard to fall asleep that one night.
I just left from a two night stay here and I cannot say enough positive things about it! The room was so clean and spacious and I am very hard to please. All of the staff were so accommodating and kind! I was in town for my daughter‘s volleyball tournament this weekend and parking was really difficult at the convention center. After letting Joe with valet know about this, he offered to drive us over to the convention center. This kind of service is just above and beyond and really impressed me! I am a travel advisor and will definitely be recommending this hotel for all future clients!
Pros: great location and hotel is beautiful. Cons: we booked a room in the power plant section but when we checked in they gave us a room in 3 Muses next door with a city view. Our room was across the street from saddlebags bar. It was so loud! The base sound vibrated in our room until they closed at 3AM. Our hotel room had complimentary earplugs and sound machine. (I should have known when I saw them something was amiss!) the earplugs and sound machine did nothing to mask the sound. I’ve stayed in noisy cities before but this one topped the list! I would have given this hotel a 5 star rating but the fact that I had a sleepless night when the hotel clerk obviously knew there are issues hence the 2 star rating…
Such a fantastic Valentine’s weekend stay at Plant Riverside!! From the beautifully organized and executed amenities from Tonya to the superior hospitality shown by Mel during our stay , the entire weekend experience was amazing! A special thank you to both !! ?? Every staff member displayed the best customer service and it was noticeable and so appreciated!! Room service was delicious and delivered and retrieved very timely !! Again , such kind staff !! Thank you Plant Riverside for a wonderful unforgettable experience!!! ?
First trip to Savannah, great little city, all the southern charm even though the cold air was in town. Was there on business, the hotel was an awesome venue, plentynof meeting room space for a mid size conference. Best thing about it, the history of the power plant, especially since the conference was for electrcians. The art collection display is awesome, beautiful and amazing. Plenty of great food within walking distance, bars as well. Definitely coming back on vacation whenniys warmer. As an avid golfer, Harbor Town @ Hilton Head Island is only an hour drive.
Fantastic Location and Beautiful property. Honestly everything was perfect except the Valet Scratching my Audi (don’t think it was intentional). Told the front desk and called the second I left the hotel and went to fill up gas for the way back. They said the Valet would call me back, no call ever came. Then I show up 4 days later to stay again at the hotel and talk to the Valet directly and was told that the Valet manager will call me back when he got in later that day. No call ever came. Stopped by the front desk to try to get a resolution a 3x and she said the Valet isn’t run through the hotel and that I would need to contact the valet to have recourse. I did that via phone and in person and still nothing. How does a top tier hotel like this just disregard guest vehicles or how they are taken care of. God forbid a Rolls Royce shows up and gets damaged by the Valet. I’m sure the whole run around of who is responsible would reflect really well on the Brand. I need this resolved because apparently no one in Savannah can return my calls. Once again my only issue is the damage to my car which the Hotel won’t do anything about and the valet won’t even return a call. I spent 1500$ there in 2 nights and this is the service I get, unbelievable. UPDATE: Valet has reached out and working with them now. They were very apologetic and reviewing footage now.
Horrible experience. Rooms are old, curtains did not work. We stayed at the Loft, and the quality of service and experience was quite poor. Communication sucked. We called multiple times to get linen and coffee but no response. Final bill was never sent and they over charged us by $600. When we called the front desk to clarify, she was rude! They seem to be petty. Even the quality of toilet paper, other toiletries was quite low, worse than what you find at a Red Roof Inn. This was not a 4 star experience at all!! Do not recommend it to AnYONE. Do not waste your money. Location sucks. Parking is Not easy. Uber drivers or Instacart could not find it on map and lost my order! The building is so congested. 3 towers are Not even connected, you have to step outside to get to the main tower. Pathetic experience Not worth our money!
Beautiful property, but extremely disappointing customer service since our checking time to the end team members look unhappy at work. My husband and I are Platinum Elite Marriott members, and we consistently have great experiences with the staff at other Marriott locations. Unfortunately, this stay was by far the worst in terms of service. I ordered room service for our daughter and was told it would take about 45 minutes. After more than an hour, the food still hadn’t arrived, no one answered the phone, and no one could provide an estimated delivery time. By the time someone finally picked up after multiple attempts, my daughter had already fallen asleep, and I had to cancel the order. There was no apology, no manager follow-up, and no effort made to resolve or improve the situation. For the price paid, the level of service did not match expectations. Additionally, the room was extremely noisy you could hear everything which made it very difficult to relax at night. If you’re looking for a peaceful and restful stay, this is not the place. That said, the hotel itself is beautiful, the restaurant food was good, and the overall atmosphere is visually impressive. Unfortunately, due to the poor customer service and noise issues, we will not be recommending this place or staying here again
