The Courtyard by Marriott Savannah Downtown Historic District receives generally positive reviews, particularly praising its convenient location and friendly staff. However, concerns regarding inconsistent room quality, noise levels, and occasional service issues, such as slow check-in and billing errors, have been raised. Recent reviews highlight the exceptional helpfulness of certain staff members.
Great service. Rooms were very clean. Hotel staff was very nice, friendly, went out of their way to recommend placed to eat and go. They helped locate items I thought were lost. Would recommend staying here
Courtyard by Marriott's Savannah Downtown/Historic District location is a convenient spot for a stay in Downtown Savannah, Georgia! I recently stayed in this Courtyard by Marriott with my boyfriend, as we were visiting Savannah, GA to celebrate the wedding of two of our friends. To start, the exterior of the hotel is lovely, and the hotel's location on West Liberty Street is very convenient, as it is (per Google's overview of this Marriott hotel) about a 5 minute walk to the Savannah History Museum and roughly 4.4 miles from Old Fort Jackson. Overall, our stay at this hotel was good - but, I wouldn't say it was great. Unfortunately, the A/C in our room did not work the first night after we checked into this hotel, which definitely complicated my boyfriend & I's stay and made things uncomfortable. Our room's bathroom also felt somewhat outdated, I felt that it could certainly use a refresh design-wise. On the positive side, the staff were very kind, responsive, and helpful throughout our visit, which we truly appreciated. The common areas of the hotel were also pleasant and well-maintained, creating a welcoming atmosphere. With a few room updates and more consistent climate control, this property has the potential to offer an even better stay!
We had a great stay for our soccer tournament. The staff were all very kind and considerate. The front desk ladies were especially amazing. Both Alisha and another sweet lady (sorry I didn’t get your name but you were awesome and helped us get Tylenol and snacks!)
Dwight that works with the valet service is the kindest man in the building. He greets everyone with joy and excitement. He genuinely seems passionate about serving every guest and making sure that everyone is taken care of promptly. Marriott should take note of how simple kindness from staff members such as Dwight can make the stay that much more pleasurable and meaningful.
Overall, my stay was really good. The room was nice and comfortable. Everything seem to be very clean. My only complaint was at check-in. Due to airline delays. We got in around 2 AM. There was four in my group and although the clerk was super nice, she was also super super slow. After a long day of travel. We just wanted to go to bed and she literally took 10 to 15 minutes per person. I had a charge to my room that I didn’t make. I got the charge after returning home. I called to understand the charge and informed them I didn’t eat at the restaurant. They said a manager would call me. Still waiting for that call. POOR SERVICE at this place.
The room was well-organized and clean, the breakfast met our expectations, and the location is conveniently situated within walking distance of downtown attractions. However, we were given a room that overlooked the street, and the noise from the road as well as the valet service staff in front of the building was quite loud, making it difficult for us to get a good night's sleep. Also valet service is expensive.
We booked this hotel through a third party called Nightcrawler and they guaranteed we could park across the street and not have to pay the $49 valet fee. He even placed us on hold to double-check that and reassured us we did not have to pay it. Once we arrived to the hotel they would not honor our Marriott member points. We told them we would park out car and was told the valet isn't optional. Whether we parked or car across the street or used their valet service, we would be charged the $49 per day for that service. Also, most courtyards offer a free continental breakfast but this one offer nothing free.... very disappointed in this stay. Customer service at front desk was rude and it felt we were bothering her by checking in. Traffic and sirens heard most of the night. Very loud hotel.
I wanted to leave a review for Mia at the front desk. We are scouting locations for lodging and Mia was the most helpful and so pleasant. She triple-checked to make sure all my needs were met. We will definitely book our stay here. We are Marriott Elite members, and employees like Mia, are why we love Marriott brands. Give her a raise!
Very convenient to the Civic center but the road noise was ridiculous. I was woken up all night by loud vehicles driving by, it was like we had the window open. The parking is expensive and we were told it was going to be comped since my dad is in a wheelchair. Every time I checked in the vehicle in they tried to charge me anyway and I kept having to explain it. The supervisor said I should have never been told that but he honored it and the hotel stilll tried to charge me after the stay which required another phone call. No continental breakfast which for the price, should be included. But on a positive note the rooms were nice and well-appointed
I had a terrible experience with customer service after booking through a third-party site. When I contacted the hotel, they were unaware that I should have reached out to the third party instead. Clearly, the staff is not properly trained. Initially, I was told my issue wasn’t a problem, but then I was charged for both rooms. After calling again, another employee informed me that the reason for the charge was that the person I spoke to should have told me to contact Expedia. It became a frustrating back-and-forth with the staff, as they kept passing the blame to one another. Eventually, I spoke with someone who agreed to refund the rooms, but they only then refunded one and the original charge was 151 and I got back 135. It seems the staff is not doing their job effectively. I requested emails to document all these interactions, and I was told everything was being recorded, so we could always refer back to it. However, when I asked for them review those recordings, I was told no. This experience has been a joke, and it feels like I'm dealing with a bunch of incompetent people.
