Guests consistently praise the Drayton Hotel's prime location and charming, boutique aesthetic, while highlighting exceptional rooftop amenities like the 'golden hour' cocktails. However, multiple reviews cite noisy rooms due to traffic or occupancy, as well as inconsistent service (such as locked doors or unavailable complimentary perks).
My wife and I stayed at The Drayton Hotel in Savannah for two nights and we had a great visit. Our room was clean and had unique decor that made the room feel special (albeit a bit small). Unlike many hotels which rely on breakfast buffets, at the Drayton breakfast was made to order and quite good! The hotel location couldn’t be better as you are within walking distance of the Riverfront and many of the historic locations. There is a resort fee, but it comes with the rooftop golden hour - between 2pm and 5pm you get complimentary drinks and a free appetizer We highly recommend the Drayton Hotel to if you are visiting Savannah.
My husband and I stayed at the Drayton back in September and loved it so much, we had our wedding on the rooftop last weekend. The decor is so warm and inviting, the rooms are perfection (those wide plank floors!) and the service outstanding. Joy, Peter, Joseph, and Summer helped create the most wonderful evening rooftop party for us, even our guests complimented the space, the attentiveness and the stunning views from the best rooftop in Savannah. Perfect location to walk anywhere in the city with a coffee from the little coffee shop inside. We adore this hotel and are beyond satisfied and impressed with how they handled our guests and wedding day. Top tier!!
My wife and I stayed at The Drayton Hotel in Savannah for one night, and it was absolutely lovely from start to finish. From check-in to check-out, the staff was wonderful, so friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. We arrived early in the morning, and they went above and beyond to accommodate us with an early check-in, which we truly appreciated. The room was spotless, beautifully designed, and full of charming, unique decor that made the stay feel special. Breakfast was delicious and thoughtfully done and, again, the service was exceptional! The location couldn’t be better as you are within walking distance of almost everything Savannah has to offer. A fun little surprise was the rooftop at golden hour. The complimentary drinks for hotel guests was the perfect way to unwind and take in the atmosphere. We would absolutely stay here again and highly recommend The Drayton Hotel to anyone visiting Savannah.
My wife and I spent two nights at the Drayton in a junior suite (Room 202), which is located at the corner of Drayton and Bay. It's a bit of a reach to call it a suite -- the door opens into a foyer with the bathroom on the left and the actual quarters straight ahead. The king bed was very comfortable. The decor is a bit strange (color scheme looks like something out of a children's preschool) but I am able to overlook this easily enough. While there is no actual chair or desk, there is an upholstered bench that ran along two of the walls, long enough to sit six adults. And there was a table on which one could set up a laptop. The bathroom was a good size, although the shower stall (no tub) was oddly configured but then that can often be the case when shoehorning a hotel into a building that was designed for other uses. Regardless, that didn't affect the utility of the shower. The room featured Molton Brown toiletries -- soap, shampoo and conditioner in dispensers in the shower, and lotion in a dispenser by the sink. There was also plenty of room to spread out everything that both I and my wife brought with us. And there were two robes for our use in the closet. One item to note if considering a stay here -- trucks of the 18-wheel variety regularly drive down Bay Street, which makes for a noisy environment. At first, I thought the noise was due to high winds but soon found out otherwise. I was able to block this out soon enough but if this sounds like the sort of issue that would bother you, request a room as far away from Bay Street as possible. The lobby is very charming and comfortable. The staff with whom we interacted was very personable. And the building is centrally located to most anything you might want to walk to in the historic district. We parked across the street in a municipal garage ($20/day). We very much enjoyed our stay at the Drayton and intend to return when we revisit Savannah.
I stayed at the Drayton for two nights over the Christmas holidays and while the location and cleanliness were outstanding several issues made the experience less pleasant than expected. Location-perfect River St and the Historic District are steps away. The room was thoroughly clean. I appreciated spacious bathroom with excellent water pressure and Morton Brown products. However, a torn and stained comforter was unacceptable for a luxury property. Upon arrival, no one staffed the valet which is the hotel's only parking option, with no signage or guidance. It turns out one person handles both valet and luggage delivery. Nonetheless, all valet staffs I encountered during my stay were very nice and professional. The most annoying thing was that there was sound something like an electric current in the room, constantly made me wake up during night. Also, I couldn't use Golden Hour on Christmas Eve due to it not being offered. Front desk should have mentioned this at check in. Overall, the prime location and spotless room were highlights, but service inconsistencies didn't meet my expectation.
We planned a quick weekend getaway to enjoy the Christmas festivities in Savannah and chose The Drayton Savannah for its proximity to the riverfront and historic district. After reading reviews and viewing photos, it seemed like a perfect fit—and it truly was. From check-in, we were warmly greeted and informed of the hotel’s amenities, including the Hilton member “Golden Hour” on the rooftop with complimentary cocktails and appetizers. We were also upgraded based on our membership status. Our room was beautiful, spotlessly clean, and very comfortable, with excellent bedding. The hotel has a boutique feel—warm, intimate, and inviting—which we loved. If you’re looking for a large resort-style property, this may not be for you. One evening we enjoyed cocktails in The Vinyl Room, a speakeasy-style lounge beneath the main restaurant. It’s very popular, so plan ahead. St. Neo’s Brasserie was also excellent, with delightful evening service (morning service was the only minor miss). Overall, we loved our stay and would gladly return and recommend The Drayton Savannah.
I recently stayed at the hotel with my wife and really enjoyed every aspect of the hotel. Great cocktail upon arrival with a great appetizer trio. Breakfast was amazing and my bill came without my breakfast posted. I texted Jaye at the front desk and in 30 minutes I received a message from her and an updated bill. This level of service is only seen on a very rare occasion. Jaye is a special person with an amazing commitment to excellence.
My family and I had a four night stay on our first trip to Savannah and our first vacation in four years. We were so excited and upon arriving the front desk popped sparkling wine and we had a little toast! We spent every evening enjoying the roof top bar for the “golden hour” each enjoying a glass of wine and one of the accoutrements. Everyone we came into contact with was friendly and accommodating. The rooms are tight, no chairs to sit on in the regular room just the bed. The TV was mounted on the wall next to the bed not at the foot so you cannot lay down and watch without turning your whole body. They had some gentlemen working in the ceiling at 8:30 in the morning… they accidentally set off the fire alarm. No elevator for a little bit and no sleeping in as well. Something was wrong with the HVAC on our floor and they gave us a new room which was an upgrade at no cost. Temperatures dropped that night and we didn’t want to chance being cold. The lobby is spacious and well decorated, the pop up bar in the basement was fun, the main floor bar was vibrant and bustling, and the roof top bar was calming and relaxing. We loved the location, we walked just about everywhere. I loved how close it was to the water and all the squares. A beautiful hotel in a beautiful city.
Our stay was great. We booked another night. We are on a road-trip to Miami for my partner’s work. We liked Savannah and the hotel enough to stay another night last minute. The building and interior has quite a charm. I loved our room, particularly the bathroom. It was also nice having a steamer and cushioned hangers. I wish we had more time to enjoy the lounge area - sip on wine/cocktail and play some chess. Take advantage of the rooftop patio. Location is perfect for us. After a day of travelling and sightseeing, it’s the best feeling to unwind in a nice hotel like The Drayton. When we return to Savannah for a proper visit, we would definitely book here again.
Booked a premium room for three nights, expecting a restful experience. Unfortunately, our room was located directly beneath the hotel rooftop bar, and the music from the bar was clearly audible. There should be a warning when booking about nosie levels. To be clear—this isn’t street noise from River Street. This is internal hotel noise, and if you're sensitive to sound or expecting a quiet stay, especially in a premium room, be sure to ask in advance where your room is located. Do not take a 5th floor room. The property itself is beautiful, and the location is convenient, but the experience fell far short of Hilton’s Curio Collection standards.
