The Holiday Inn Savannah South I-95 Gateway has undergone a significant renovation and offers a stylish, upscale experience, exceeding expectations for a typical Holiday Inn. However, recent reviews reveal inconsistent service and cleanliness issues, alongside concerns about outdated facilities and hidden fees.
This place is an absolute steel for the price and location!! The renovated rooms/whole hotel are immaculate, with outstanding service. The outside is well let and felt safe. I came with two young children and felt safe the whole time I was here. Definitely will comeback and recommend to my friends coming to visit Savannah.
This hotel is so nice! The lobby is beautiful and so is the room. The bathroom is spacious and the tile and shower are really nice! The hotel is conveniently located off of i95 in Savannah, close to the city without having to stay downtown. Would definitely recommend!
This Holiday Inn in Savannah Gateway / Hwy 204 is easily the nicest in the area—it feels more like a boutique luxury hotel than a typical stay. The transformation is a complete gut renovation, and everything is brand new. The lobby immediately stands out, featuring a striking green marble front desk and bar (truly one-of-a-kind), along with beautiful tilework, a crystal partition, and warm ambient lighting that sets the tone. The rooms are thoughtfully designed with uplifting green accents (even on the ceiling), natural oak tones, quartz-topped furniture, and soft uplighting—giving a feel closer to a Ritz-Carlton or 1 Hotel. Bathrooms are modern, and the gold and green tiles are especially beautiful and elegant, complemented by handheld showers and Dove amenities. The new in-room Keurig is a great touch as well. While the Coastal Bar & Grill isn’t open just yet, it’s expected to feature a locally inspired menu with ingredients like fresh-caught Georgia shrimp, which fits perfectly with the overall concept. Overall, a standout property—stylish, fresh, and far above what you’d expect from a Holiday Inn. The photos truly match the experience.
As an IHG member, I expected a much higher level of quality and service, but unfortunately that was not my experience. The front desk associate appeared to be new and unfamiliar with the check-in process, which made what should have been a quick and smooth arrival unnecessarily slow. There was no complimentary breakfast and no coffee available in the morning, which is disappointing given IHG brand expectations. The room itself was outdated and did not reflect the standards I associate with IHG properties. I have already notified IHG of these concerns. As an IHG member, I expect certain baseline standards to be maintained across affiliated hotels. If I were seeking lower quality accommodations, I could have booked through a budget rewards program such as Choice Rewards instead.
Stayed at this hotel for one night. Worst IHG Holiday Inn stay I have ever had. The room had such a horrendous smell, and the poor front desk person couldn't help. There was no management to deal with the situation. I asked for a partial refund, since they couldn't resolve the issue, and management said it was a non refundable stay. Which obviously means to them, that non refundable customers can be given sub par service, because who cares. Would definitely not recommend this specific hotel!!! ** Tried reaching out to management. No response.
This hotel needs a remodel. I was told that it was coming. Ceiling in room looks water damaged. Poor lighting in the room. Limited outlets for power. Mold in the bathroom. Just not the standard of the other Holiday Inns I have stayed at recently. Don't try it until after the remodel.
Excellent facility! I prefer a Handicap Accessible room and fortunately the King Suite with accessible shower was available. OMG! For some reason, they don't advertise this suite or they don't have any pics of the bathroom! I will remedy that. Their shower is large enough to put a shower chair in there. Loved it! Now for the bed: Loved it! I did not want to get OUT of bed! Wow! I travel a lot between Augusta and Florida. This hotel will be the hotel I stay at from now on (as long as that room is available ?)!
I was impressed by the outstanding customer service provided by Kiara at the front desk. Her professionalism, knowledge, attentiveness, and helpfulness were evident, and she secured a competitive rate for my chosen room, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Thank you for your excellent customer service. The bartender also provided good service and was kind. Thank you both; I plan to return. a+++ Best regards Raico Mulet
Completely dissatisfied with this room. Not returning. When we checked in, our original room 219 reeked of beer and the fridge & microwave did not work. The front desk receptionist promptly moved us to another room, everything “seemed” fine, until we unpacked after dinner. Once we came back, our room smelled like cigarettes (not sure if the room temp changed or had anything to do with it?), then next, we noticed throughout the night that many “little” issues kept arising, which slowly became overall unacceptable & unpleasant. One- the TV remote doesn’t respond. Fine. Two, the TV stayed dim even after changing the settings. Again, not a huge deal. I take a shower and see complete uncleanliness- which i absolutely cannot stand. The shower had hair all over the place, dirty grout, and calcium buildup on the shower head. Again, I smell cigarette smoke all over the towels and sheets. I will never come back to this hotel and we absolutely will never recommend it to anyone. There is also a completely broken down, desolate hotel right next door, so you’ll think twice about parking your car here. No breakfast included, and no bathtub plugs- just worth a mention in case you have children you need to provide baths too. This place is pretty on the exterior, but extremely misleading on the inside. There are even “de-odorizers” placed in each hallway. Absolutely disgusting here. All of the doors have chipped paint and the walls are discolored with smoke stains. Gross.
Rooms where okay, but it still has low toilets. Recommend higher ones. Would be a great idea to have Handicap bars on all bathroom shower doesn't matter if you are elderly or disabled. Great service at desk very helpful. Im also a Member of Holiday Inn worth it
