Recent reviews for the Springhill Suites by Marriott Savannah Midtown highlight significant issues including overbooking, cleanliness problems, and safety concerns like shattered glass and pests. While some guests praised the location and friendly staff, the overwhelming feedback points to a serious decline in property maintenance and guest experience, particularly regarding room condition and responsiveness to issues.
They over booked. The associate was highly rude and emotionless. Not only to me she was rude she was rude to other customers. I saw other lady crying, it was certainly extremely disrespectful The way the associate talked. There were three families who were overbooked and we all had to find a place right away. There was no email sent to us of any sort that the hotel was over booked or your reservation is canceled? In this era how can you not email?or call?or text?
The hotel was in the perfect area. It was in a very nice area to be able to walk. There were restaurants right away. We were able to enjoy immediately the convenience of Olive garden and a very nice Italian place that was close by The downside was is that the hotel staff did not keep the area clean at night. They did not clean the bathrooms even when the staff requested it and the public toilets were broken
Would definitely stay again. Upon arrival my family was greeted by Porsche and she gave us a lot of great information of what events, restaurants, and activities were in the local area. When we asked her for assistance with the room she was quick to respond and gave us her full attention/assisted with the issue. The room was clean, parking was available, and the breakfast was set up on time.
I am currently staying here, and need to warn others to avoid this hotel at all costs. The room is filthy. We had to clean all of the tables and counter tops ourselves. Nasty. Floor hasn't been vacuumed in ages. This hotel is going through some renovations, but that doesn't excuse how dirty this room is. We have a dripping sound in our room and can't figure out where it is coming from. Very annoying. Plus, for the price they are asking for each night, having the rooms this bad is a rip off. Ive stayed in Springhill Suites in many cities, and the price, whether in dollars or points, is way off from where they should be charging. No remote in our room for the tv. Ive seen other reviews of others that have had remote issues or couldn't even get a working one. Water pressure is good. Hot water is consistent. Breakfast is basic but filling. A hot meat, eggs, biscuits, waffle mix, condiments for the eggs and waffles, bagels, bread, muffins, gluten free muffin and bagels, one type of cereal. Hot coffee, hot water and cold water. They were cleaning off tables quickly. The good is the gentleman that checked us is was wonderful. Very nice, talkative, pleasant. The rest of the staff we encountered were all nice and helpful. So far the treat to our stay.
I stayed just 1 night recently and listen Ganize at the front desk might've treated me like royalty. I would go this location again just for the service. But note the rooms are nice. Perfect for business trips both long and short.
Hotel overall was clean. I did see 2 Cockroaches in my room. There was zero breakfast items there, except waffles. Zero forks. The whole hotel just smelled old. Beds were comfortable. Definitely would not stay here again.
Our room had questionable stains on the sofa and carpet, smelled musty, had dirty hand prints on the wall, the mini fridge only slightly chilled drinks, and there were silverfish in the bathroom. There was a room on our floor with the door kicked in and police tape. I overheard 2 other guests with similar complaints. The staff was extremely friendly and apologized for the state of the room. They are renovating, hopefully that will fix some of the problems.
My husband and I did a staycation only for the following to occur and the we were advised that no damage was done so we will not be compensated for damage. However photos and emails have been attached: Dear Corporate Representative I am reaching out regarding the extremely disappointing and unsafe experience my husband and I had during our stay at Sornghill Suite from February 7th to 8th. I would like to formally request a direct conversation with a corporate representative to discuss the mishandling of this situation and the lack of professionalism we encountered. Upon check-in, I had to repeatedly return to the front desk to have my key card reprogrammed due to continuous access issues. After finally receiving a properly programmed key, I was given a room that did not match my original booking. When I raised this concern, I was told that because I booked through a third-party service, nothing could be done to rectify the mistake. I requested to speak with management but was advised I would have to wait until the morning of February 8th. On the morning of our departure, at approximately 8:45 AM, we were preparing to check out. Due to my anxiety and PTSD related to glass shower doors, I initially kept the shower door slightly open while I showered. When my husband attempted to close the shower door before his turn, the glass unexpectedly shattered, causing abrasions and swelling to his left arm. This traumatic event triggered an anxiety attack for me. I immediately contacted the front desk to report the incident. The clerk informed me that she would reach out to her manager. After speaking with management, she advised that the only compensation being offered was a refund for the night’s stay and a future free stay at the hotel. Given the severity of the incident including my husband’s injury and the psychological distress I experienced this resolution was entirely inadequate. Additionally, I should have also been compensated for receiving a double room instead of the king suite I originally booked. When I requested corporate contact information to escalate the matter, the front desk clerk attempted to obtain it but later informed me that her manager refused to provide any corporate details. She ultimately resorted to searching online for contact information. I sincerely appreciate her efforts, but the refusal of her superior to provide basic corporate contact details was not only unprofessional but also indicative of poor customer service. This entire experience from the room assignment issue to the safety hazard of the faulty shower door was unacceptable. The situation was handled with a lack of urgency and professionalism, and I felt disregarded during an incredibly vulnerable moment. I am seeking a genuine resolution to this matter and an appropriate response to the unsafe conditions we encountered. Please let me know how we can proceed with discussing this matter further. I would greatly appreciate a prompt response.
I recently attempted a stay at SpringHill Suites Savannah Midtown, and it was an incredibly disappointing experience—nowhere near the standard I expect from a Marriott property. From the moment I stepped into the hotel, the hallways reeked of smoke and mildew, making it an unpleasant environment. The room itself was outdated, poorly maintained, and not properly cleaned. The couch was visibly dirty, and the overall condition of the furniture was subpar. The bathroom was in unacceptable condition, far from what was shown in the online photos. The experience was so bad that I had to leave and book a different hotel—something I have never had to do before with a Marriott brand. This property does not reflect the quality and reputation of Marriott, and I would not recommend it to anyone. I hope corporate takes immediate action to address these issues because, as it stands, this hotel does not meet even basic expectations for cleanliness and comfort.
